Recruiting Passionate Participants
The Minnesota Reading Corps (MRC) was making such a positive impact on the state’s reading scores, the number of members it needed to recruit doubled year after year. To meet the growing need, how could it persuade more than 800 people to commit to a year of service tutoring Minnesota’s youth?
From Albany to Waseca, Bellmont Partners coordinated a grassroots, statewide media relations program focused on the personal benefits MRC members received as they gave back to their communities, combined with hard data that clearly illustrated the program’s impact on the state’s children. As a result, MRC exceeded its recruitment goals for each of the four years it teamed with Bellmont Partners, expanding from 100 to more than 800 reading tutors across the state.
