Generating Buzz, Exceeding Goals
To help bridge the gender and talent gap in computing, and encourage young women in high school interested in technology, Advance IT Minnesota established the first Minnesota Aspirations for Women in Computing Award. Advance IT Minnesota turned to Bellmont Partners to identify the most effective way to build visibility and generate entries for this new award.
To accomplish this goal, Bellmont Partners launched an integrated campaign encouraging students to apply which included Twin Cities and statewide media relations, Facebook Ads across the state targeted to reach girls with an interest in technology in Minnesota high schools and their parents and the development of direct mail and email materials for local educators and administrators.
The planning committee attributes the program’s success to Bellmont Partners’ efforts. Media placements were generated on KARE-11 Saturday, the Pioneer Press, Clear Channel radio stations, websites, and newspapers and TV news across the state. The program also saw the highest participation rate in the country among single-state first-year award programs.
