To follow in the Brave New Workshop’s long tradition of hilarious innovation, the theatre lit up its new marquee in an unusual – and entertaining – way on Friday. Bellmont Partners is excited to have had the opportunity to help coordinate and kick off the magical opening of its new building on Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis.
After a few words by founder Dudley Riggs, Mayor R.T. Rybak presented the Brave New Workshop with a commemorative plaque and confirmation of Nov. 4 as “Brave New Workshop Day in Minneapolis.” Next, he surprised everyone by stepping onto a stationary bike to help “pedal-power” the marquee lights. As he pedaled, the theatre’s co-owners John Sweeney and Jenni Lilledahl and founder Dudley Riggs directed the eager audience to help the mayor by “blowing” the lights on and creating an overall enchanted experience.
Bellmont Partners helped support the event with media relations, photography and social media coordination.
Complete with a high-tech space for meetings, parties and corporate events, the Brave New Workshop is poised to become the greenest theatre in the country. A few eco-friendly improvements include a savings of 173,407 kilowatt hours per year through switching to primarily LED lighting; and a fancy new marquee, which uses only 9 percent of the energy a similar-sized traditional marquee uses.
Proud to have been a part of this historic event, Bellmont Partners wishes the Brave New Workshop many more exciting successes – green and otherwise — to come!
